I was looking for classic Fender tone and I tried many vintage blackface amps. Then I test drove a Cyber Twin and immediately fell in love with it's versatility. The tone was not exactly perfect, but close enough to make me buy it. I found that further tweaking of the extensive setting selections got closer to the vintage Fender sound, but something was still lacking. So, I bought a 12" Weber Chicago speaker. The Webers are direct copies of the old Jensen speakers that Fender used in the 50's and 60's. The Chicago model is a vintage series with ribbed, deeper cones and a solid dome dustcap optimized for a later breakup and crunchy overdrive. I reasoned that the vintage style speaker would work some tone magic, and it did. I left one stock Celestion speaker in for it's bell like clarity and added the Weber. It immediately "aged" the tone with a warmer, thicker sound. Now the Blues stuff sounds absolutely fanatastic and I no longer search for tone.
